Salma Alrashid is the Chief Advocacy Officer at Alnahda Society, a non-profit organization with a vision for women to be active participants in the development of Saudi society.
Prior to that role, she was the Chief Programs Officer since 2016, overseeing several development projects with a focus on women’s economic empowerment. Through her work, she participates locally in various committees to influence policy and work alongside decision-makers to ensure a holistic approach to social development.
She also represents civil society internationally at UN human rights conventions, where she successfully led the organization’s UN ECOSOC application and participation at the Committee on the Status of Women.
Since 2018, she has been an official delegate and Head of Delegation at the Women 20 (W20) G20 Engagement Group, where she represented Saudi Arabia at W20 meetings in Argentina and Japan and helped shape the communiques to G20 leaders.
In 2020, she served as the W20 Sherpa for the year of Saudi Arabia’s Presidency of the G20. With a global view of gender and development issues, she ensures that the organization’s work is aligned with its mission, the nation’s Vision 2030, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
