From May 2008 to November 2011 I held the post of Minister for Equal Opportunities in the Berlusconi IV government.
In 2010 I was elected to the Regional Council of Campania and from June 2016 to November 2020 I was municipal councillor in Naples.
I was elected Vice-president of the Chamber of Deputies, a post I held until I was sworn in as Minister for South and Territorial Cohesion in the Draghi government on 13 February 2021.
I have always been involved in promoting women’s rights and human rights. In my political and institutional activity, I have kept a special focus on the Mezzogiorno and its great potential, in the conviction that being able to express them fully would improve the living conditions of the southern citizens and relaunch the development of the whole country.
